In 2003 my survey led me back to the breakup of traditional western form ca. 1900 - 1910. These two small still lifes exemplify the reluctant abandonment of stable perspective and unambiguous plane, grudgingly acknowledging the new hegemony of form over traditional concepts of realism. The pedagogical aspects of these pictures are emphasized, again, through palette and surface texture:
